Karma Kollection was designed to reinforce the concept that good actions create good karma—in essence it’s a cause and effect. It is rooted in parenting, but can extend to all facets of life and learning. Karma Kollection was formed to honor my mother and teach my daughter about the power of positive thinking, good intentions, and making a big difference in little ways. We are all created with special gifts—some more obvious than others. It’s extracting these gifts in ourselves and others that is the purpose. And so, this blog is an avenue for discovery.
It is here to inspire.
It is here to make you reflect.
It is here to make you laugh.
It is here to make you cry.
It is here when you need some comfort.
It is here to make us all care more about one another.
It is here to make us better.
In the end, good vibes, create good lives.
Roopa Weber has created the Karma Kollection blog to inspire better lives through kindness and gratitude. Every valuable lesson and morsel of wisdom she possesses was derived from her parents who placed great pride on being honorable, accepting, and forgiving. It is through genuine struggle that one can fully determine what is important and cherished. Her father demonstrated sacrifice and courage in ways words cannot describe. But, it has been her mother’s quiet strength and sagacity that remain the guiding light in her life. Roopa’s parents had an arranged marriage and were together for 63 years, but her father experienced adversity that left him paralyzed when she was 6 years old. Her mother selflessly cared for him with tremendous joy and devotion. Being immigrants, they started from scratch (twice), endured countless challenges, and grew up with little money so Roopa was raised to focus on the simple pleasures in life. She learned that with immense love, appreciation, humility, hope and a positive mindset anything was possible.
When Roopa had her own child, she wanted the values with which she was raised to be ingrained in her daughter, but was unsure just how to teach her everything she wanted to pass down. It was reading books to her child every night that spurred a passion for storytelling. Once the reading was done and the books were tucked away, a back rub and a made-up story ensued. Roopa conjured up adventures every night in order to reinforce the messages and values she thought were important, which mostly focused on confidence, generosity, happiness, and appreciation. The verbal stories then morphed into one story about a peacock who realizes that true beauty emanates from “the happiness in her heart.” Roopa has written two other values-based books (not yet illustrated) to spread her learnings. The Penny the Peacock® series was born to invite all good things to and from everyone who experiences it.
Knowing the books were only the beginning of this journey, Roopa created Karma Kollection to speak about life’s lessons. While her books are a vehicle to reinforce messages with children, she wanted to complete the circle by engaging with the adults who equally need reminders and motivation so they too can live their best lives. The thinking is not that one story will shift the trajectory of your life, but gradual movements in the right direction will be impactful. If we have empathy, good intentions and a desire to make improvements, we can affect our lives for the better and those around us. Knowing that in the end, good vibes create good lives ™.
Penny wakes up with excitement only to be disappointed when she does not look beautiful—her hair is a mess, her feathers are all rumpled, and her face is missing that special glow. When Penny focuses on the happiness in her heart, not even her messiness can stop her from feeling beautiful.
Messy Penny is the first book of the series and focuses on how true beauty comes from the happiness in one’s heart. The values based series is designed to promote and foster self confidence in children of all ages.
